A serial entrepreneur and company builder, Dave Boyce’s background is rooted in the high-stakes world of SaaS startups, where he helped build and sell seven companies to acquirers including Oracle, Amazon, and Experian. Dave’s journey through the tech landscape was forged through leadership roles at companies like ProfitLogic, an early AI cloud company he helped scale from $3M to $20M before its acquisition by Oracle. He earned his B.A. in German Literature cum laude from Brigham Young University and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Dave’s career is defined by a rare ability to bridge the gap between entrepreneurial agility and enterprise-grade rigor. After scaling an Oracle business unit from $80M to $350M, he served as a senior executive at InsideSales.com, where he helped navigate the organization through its transition from $15M to a $70M+ unicorn-scale platform. Most recently, Dave served as Executive Chairman of Winning by Design, leveraging a bird’s-eye view of the industry to distill the growth patterns of hundreds of SaaS companies—findings he codified in his book, FREEMIUM, published by Stanford University Press in 2025. This deep intellectual authority in revenue architecture provides a firm foundation for his work identifying and scaling the next generation of software winners.
Prior to joining Mercato as an investor, Dave spent years supporting the firm’ growth portfolio as a specialized advisor in Product-Led Growth. Dave has served on 11 public and private boards, including Forrester (NASDAQ: FORR) and Winning by Design, and he currently sits on several AI-native company advisory boards.
